“Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” First, Jesus identifies a type of people who, if they take a certain action, will receive an action from God. Who are these people; anyone who is weary and burdened! How many times in my life do I fit into this category? I probably fall into this category at least once a week. Life is tiring. It is easy to get worn down, or feel the burden, which comes from work, relationships, and the trials of life. So what is the action that these people need to take? Jesus says, “Come to me.” This action that Jesus requests looks like a number of things to me. Sometimes it means quieting my mind and heart and gazing on the attributes of God. Sometimes it means listening to him in his word and communicating to him my anxieties. Whatever it looks like, it must be a conscience action of moving towards God. “Come” entails getting up from where you, knowing where you want to go, and then moving to that place. If we do this, God promises us that He will give us rest! This is step one…
From Oct. 25th to Nov. 3rd I joined the entire collegiate staff of the U.S. Navigators in SanDestin Florida for a time of fellowship and training. The teaching was incredible. Everyday God spoke through his word to my heart and He flamed my vision and love for Him. The most encouraging part of the trip was the fellowship. I had a great time with some of my great EDGE corps friends, enjoying our stories of what God has done so far this year, and dong the stanky legg… OH YEA!
I will be helping to lead worship for the Navigator Rocky Mountain Region Fall Conference Journey on Oct. 23rd – 25th. This will be a great weekend of seeking the Lord and learning from some very Godly people. Please pray for me and our band as we prepare to lead 600 – 1000 students into the presence of the Lord.
I had a great trip to California Aug. 8th – 14th. I spent four days with my great Aunt Linda in Carmel, and we had a fabulous time! We went to San Francisco, 17 Mile Drive, and to the Monterey Aquarium. Linda’s son and daughter-in-law also joined us for a day. It was great to see family which I have not connected with in years. The second part of the week I spent at my good friend Ross and Elle’s wedding. What a blessing to be part of such a special event. They got married on the beach in San Luis Obisbo.
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.C.S. Lewis 2 years ago
